In Lengua 4.2, we will add more verbs to our repertoire and examine what happens to stem-changing verbs in the preterite tense. Here are some additional common stem-changing verbs, along with how their stems change in present tense: morir (o:ue) to die referirse a (e:ie) to refer to elegir (e:i) to choose requerir (e:ie) to require convertirse en (e:ie) to turn into comenzar (e:ie) to begin conseguir (e:i) to get mostrar (o:ue) to show As a reminder, stem-changing verbs in the present tense follow this conjugation pattern (with endings depending on whether they are -ar , -er , or -ir verbs): Perder (to lose [e:ie]) Yo pierd o Tú pierd es Ella, él, usted pierd e Nosotras, nosotros perd emos Ellas, ellos, ustedes pierd en Alternative forms Vos perd és Vosotros perd éis In the preterite, there are no stem changes for -ar or -er verbs.
