Lengua 3.8: Indefinite and negative words Indefinite words are those like someone , something , and anybody . Negative words are words such as neither , nobody , and nothing . These words work differently in Spanish compared to English. In English, the use of a double negative is an error; we cannot say “I didn’t see nobody.” In Spanish, once a sentence is negative, we need the remaining words to fit the negative context. See these examples: ¿Tienes algo ? Do you have anything? Tengo algo . I have something. No tengo nada . I do not have anything. ¿Ves a alguien ? Do you see anyone? Veo a alguien . I see someone. No veo a nadie . I do not see anyone. ¿Vas a tomar algunas fotos? Are you going to take some photos? Voy a tomar algunas fotos. I am going to take some photos. No voy a tomar ninguna foto. I am not going to take any photos. ¿Aceptas también ? Do you also accept? Acepto también . I also accept. No acepto tampoco . I do not accept either.
