While working with local community people, volunteers rehabilitate houses, tum vacant lots into parks and baseball diamonds, research river pollution, paint murals; and march against violence and crack houses. The ·solar box cookers are easy to build and use. They are made with many different things like recycled wood, cardboard, glass and plastic. Making the ovens can be a beneficial environ- , mental project for students of all ages. Also, solar ovens can be made anywhere in the world because they require minimal supplies. They can be used to cook food and sterilize water.
