(a) The verb изменять / изменить кого-то или что-то (with a direct object) means “to change someone or something.” Какое событие изменило вашу жизнь? What event changed your life? (b) The verb изменять / изменить кому с кем means “to cheat on someone with someone.” Анна Каренина изменила мужу с Вронским. Anna Karenina cheated on (her) husband with Vronsky. (c) The verb изменяться/измениться (without an object) means “to change.” Каренин заметил, что жена очень изменилась. Karenin noticed that (his) wife had changed a lot. There are two words in Russian that correspond to the English word“jealous.” (a) The verb ревновать / приревновать кого-то к кому-то means to be jealous in a romantic context, i.e., to feel aggrieved that the object of one’s affection (the noun in the accusative case) prefers or is admired by someone else (the noun in the dative case). Коля ревнует жену к Владимиру. Kolya is jealous because his wife likes Vladimir (or because Vladimir likes Kolya’s wife).
