Earning Honors PSU's Viking wrestling team had a very successful season. When it was all over, three of four Vikings had earned All- American titles at the NCAA Wrestling Finals. Travis Bonneau placed third, Dave Vizzini, and Craig Otto took seventh to lead Portland State to a 12th place finish at the 1995 NCAA Division 11 Wrestling Championship at Kearney, Nebraska. PSU earned 23.5 points, just three points less than the ninth place title. The year before, the Vikings were in 14th place. Bonneau won four of five matches at nationals, Otto three of five, Vizzini two of four, and Shane Lake one of three. Bonneau, had also taken third at the Nationals Junior College Tournament in 1993. Otto ended the year 25-19, and Lake 21-14. Bonneau and Lake were West Regional champions; Vizzini (10-8) and Otto (22-17) qualified for nationals by placiiig third. PSU handed out several awards of its own. Travis Bonneau was named Portland State University's outstanding wrestler for the 1994-1995 season. Stoney Myers one of the only two seniors on the team, had the most combination falls, (12) ; freshman Craig Otto had the most pins at seven.
