Jan. 1994 Associated Press A cross the Northeast, the Midwest and large parts of the South, the extreme cold of January 1994 brought an end to the daily routine. Arctic air with wind chills up to 74 below zero swept across the eastern United States in the wake of a blizzard that dumped enough snow to paralyze several states.
