Michael Jordan, the world's greatest basketball player and one of its most famed athletes, announced his retirement. Jordon's statement came after he led the Chicago Bulls to three straight National Basketball Association championships. The most recent victory being over the Phoenix Suns in the 1993 finals. Jordon told said at his press conference, "The thrill is gone. I've done it all. There's nothing left for me to do.” Jordan said his desire to retire at age 30 was not prompted by the murder of his father during the summer. Jordan said that he and his father had already discussed it. 46
