T A T^^twood y sustained spinal cord injury about 13 years ago by diving into an above ground pool the summer before his senior year in high school. "Fortunately, 1 had my parents and sisters. 1 have a strong support system. My friends were an intricate part of keeping me motivated to stay alive." Westwoods parents died three years ago within six months of each ofher. Westwoods 15- year-old nephew keeps him busy. Westwood also stays active by snow skiing, water skiing, driving his ATV on the beach, and navigating a motor boat. Westwood says he is a risk taker and doesn't rule out bungee jumping in the future. Westwood's "career" as a student started in 1988 at P.C.C. and ends with his graduation from PSU. Westwood plans on getting his Masters degree in social work and opening his own private practice for people with spinal cord injuries. Westwood currently works at ACCESS OREGON, where he teaches other people with disabilities to live independently.
