Tom served as coordinator of the foundation of Han– dicapped Information Program (HIP) , an information program for handicapped students at PSU . One of his main contributions was the creation of the " Wheeler's Guide" publication. Tom was also chairman of the Oregon Architectural Barriers lobby, instrumental in passing legislation to im- prove public accessibility for the handicapped. Aside from usual studies, Tom is currently serving as a student senator and is chairperson of the Program Council, which serves the needs of a dozen campus clubs. " I like being involved. There are some great programs and activities here on campus, most of them of high quality and free . I'm working towards seeing that they continue." 69
