36 " Punish a man for his acts ... but don't punish him for his ideas ," said Frank Wilkenson in a speech sponsored by Portland State Students for Peace . Wilkenson , leader of a movement to abolish the House Un-American Activi– ties Committee , spoke on " HUAC and Integration ." He charged that "the Eastland Committee and all the little HUAC's are out to prevent peaceful integration ." HUAC was set up , he said, to investigate un-American propa– ganda . He asked , "Who can define the ' Un-American'?" Wilkenson main– tained , "We must have a market pl ace for the indigenous radical ideas that the committee has driven out."
