12 Portland State's Student Senate changed its role this year under the new structure of educational activities . The Senate was deprived of it s major function , the allocation of student activ– ity fees , and was left w ith little respon– sibiMy. Early concerns of the primarily neophyte Senate were directed at find– ing something to do. A proposal to rewrite the Constitution was the first major effort, a project still incomplete at the beginning of Spring Term . Sev– eral senators developed further inter– est in student politics as was shown by the slate of presidential candidates .
