South Park Hall's decorative, intrigu– ing second floor, with its statues and careful calligraphy, provides a back– ground as well as a basis for PSC 's Art Department. Under the chairmanship of Frederick Heidel, the department enrolls more students than any other in the Humanities Division. Many stu– dents majoring in education, history, or other non-art areas take classes in ceramics, weaving, sketching , graphic design, lettering , or painting as side courses. This year, Richard Saito distinguished the department by winning a coveted Institute of European Studies Award.
