Physical Plant Though Portland State is physically smaller than most" colleges of 5000 students, nonetheless its maintenance and physical plant personnel are specialists in the house­ keeping of this concentrated campus. The lights you see burning at PSC late at night" aren't busy students but busy main­ tenance mer'! preparing for another day's on­ sl aught of thousand s o f Portland State and Portland Extension Center men and wom­ en. Their house-keeping isn't lim ited to sweeping and wax ing floors. Maint"aining doors, windows, and furnishings is only part of this college service. Included in the duties of Mr. Cyrus Nims, director of the physical plant, is planning and construction supervision of new college buildings. Mr. Nims, an archi­ tect, has worked closel y with the architec­ rural firm of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in developing a long-r ange plan for expan­ sion of the PSC campus. 34
