232 THETA NU Fall Officers RALPH HOLLAND president DON CHARBONNEAU vice-president JOHN HANSEN setretary JOHN BRAINARD treasurer STEVE ROSO pledge master TOM BECKEL sergeant-af-arms RALPH HOLLAND Theta Nu fraternity , a local, was founded at Vanport College in 1950. At the time of its founding there were only two other men's fraternities on the Vanport campus. To cope with the problem of providing a full social life at our urban campus , the Thetas have a full and varied schedule of activities for the student body as well as members of the fraternity. The annual Christmas Formal, the last event of the busy fall social season, is a Theta Nu tradition . This formal, in recent years, has been held at the Sheraton Hotel and the Memorial Coliseum. Other social functions include exchange meetings with PSC women 's fraternities, beach and mountain trips and the Barn Dance. As other fraternities at Portland State , the Thetas are pre-occupied with the maintenance of good scholarship. The Theta N u badge is an irregular diamond which su pports the letters theta and nu on a kite-shaped black field flanked by pearls. The pledge pin is an irregular diamond shape with the letter theta on a field of black.
