The fraternity was founded at Illinois Wesleyan University in 1889. Originally called "The Knights of the Classic Lore" , the founding group changed its name in 1902. The fraternity began national expansion in 1909, and has chartered more than 170 chapters. The PSC chapter became a TKE affiliate in 1954, occupying a house of its own for seve ral years. The current chapter house is located on the corner of S.W. 12th and Hall. Teke members are actively engaged in the Student Senafe, College Center, school publications and various social prog rams. The chapter sponso rs the annual Mardi Gras and the Red Carnation Ball. Additionally the group holds man y ex­ change meetings with Portland State and Lewis & Clark so rorities. Tau Kappa Epsilon's badge is an equilateral triangle bearing a ~kul l and crosobcnes on black enamel. Below the frian g le is a sc roll bearing the letters TKE. The pledge pin is a beveled-ed ge equilateral trian g le of gray and cherry enamel.
