Delta Tau Rho, and the beginning of the youngest national chapter of Kappa Sigma. Kappa Sigma was founded at the University of Virginia in 1869 and became the first southern national to expand northward. Kappa Sigma's 132 chapters are located in 44 of the 50 states and also in Canada. The PSC chapter, Theta Epsilon, began as a local in 1947. As a result the chapter enjoys many revered traditions. One event the annual Paris Apache dance has been a favorite with PSC students for many years. The Kappa Sigs are active in Interfraternity Council, student government, Winter Carnival and other acfivities. Last year the group held its annual Sweetheart ball, a progressive dinner dance, and a number of week-end parties. Michele Venne, Alpha Phi, was chosen the chapter "Sweetheart". The Kappa Sigma badge is a gold crescent, points turned downward, suspending a five·pointed star. Within the center of the star are the letters of the fraternity surrounded by a circle of jewels. The pledge button IS an emerald tri­ angle bearing a caduceus surmounted by a circle.
