Before their installation, the women were known as Chi Gamma, a local sorority founded in 1954. Founded at Monmouth College in Illinois, in 1867, the national changed its name from I.C. Sorosis to Pi Beta Phi in 1888. The sorority has over one-hundred chaQten; in the United States and Canada. Oregon Delta, as the PSC chapter is designated, had an activity-filled year. After winning the Homecoming float sweepstakes for the second year, the annual Sadie Hawkins was held in November. The events accompanying the chapter installation completed fall term activities. Other campus activities that Pi Phi members participated In were Homecoming (two princesses), rally squad and Panhellenic Council. The Phi Beta Phi pin is a tiny gold arrow with the initials of the name on the feather. A loop chain hangs from the shaft. The pledge pin is a gold arrowhead bearing the Greek letter beta. The new members of Oregon Delta chapter gather after their initiation.
