DELTA ZETA OFFICERS CAROLYN CURTIS president BETTY KNAPP vice-president JANET TONEY vice-president SYLVIA LARISON secretary LOIS ANDERSON secretary LINDA RADKE treasurer JANICE POTTER historian CAROLYN CURTIS The honor of being the first national to colonize Portland State is accorded to Delta Zeta. The PSC group was begun November 20, 1961, and formally installed as a chapter February 4, 1961. The national which has grown quite rapidly acquired through mergers the chapters of Beta Phi Alpha in 1941 and Delta Sigma Epsilon in 1956. The national philanthropy providing hearing aids for children has received much attention from the local chapter. Delta Zeta members participated in college activities as Homecoming princess, Wi nt'e r Carnival secretary, student senator and freshman class officers. Besides active participation in many other campus activities, Delta Omicron chapter held its first house dance, the Golden Lamp Ball, February 11 at' the PortlandWomen 's Club. The Delta Zeta badge is a Roman lamp resting on four pearls on a winged ionic column. The lamp bears the Greek letter monogram and has a diamond in its flame . The pledge pin is a diamond of black enamel bearing the Roman lamp in gold. New officers of Zeta Mu chapter pose for their first official portrait during the Golden lamp Ball.
