Tri-Delt was the third national sorority to locate at Portland State. Delta Delta Delta began at Boston University in 1888. Since its founding the sorority has established over 100 chapters in the United States and Canada. Highlight of the chapter's year was the week-end of installation ceremonies. Teas, a banquet and a reception marked the busy week-end. National officers, local alumni and Tri-Delts from U of 0 and OSU came to Portland for the ceremonies. Delta Delta Delta members served the college in the Student Senate, Winter Carnival, College Center committees, Young Republicans, Freshman orientation and Pan hellenic Council. The Phi Sigma chapter was honored by the selection of Mary Thomas as a delegate to the Republican Women's meeting in Washington, D.C. Phi Sigma chapter awards a scholarship each year to a worthy PSC student. Money for the award is raised through a raffle and a Paris Apache dance garter sale. The Delta Delta Delta badge is three jeweled stars within a crescent, marked by three deltas. The pledge pin is in an inverted delta surrounded by three deltas on dark green enamel.
