The chapter was formed from the former Alpha Kappa Delta local sororit'y begun in 1957. Alpha Chi Omega was founded at DePauw Uni versity October 15, 1885. The national has grown steadily since it established its second chapter in 1887. Delta Omicron is the fourth Alpha Chi group In Oregon and the 96th nationally. Since 1947 the main philanthropy of the sorority has been aid to cerebral palsied children. Alpha Chi has contributed nearly a quarter of a million dollars in funds for research and assistance to victims of this d read disease. The local chapter presents the annual Cotton Cotillion as well as participat'ing in many campus activities. lVlembers of the PSC chapter have served on the Winter Carnival, Rally Squad, held class offices, served on publications and College Center commit tees. The badge of Alpha Chi Omega is a gold Greek lyre, jeweled in pearls or diamonds, with letters of the name on a scroll placed diagonally across the strings. The pledge pin is diamond shaped, half red and half olive green, with a gold outline of the lyre superimposed.
