The Society Chorale, a string quartet, performed the evening of Nevember 9, to on unfortunately small audience in the college auditorium. Folk Singers, Russo, Bretano, and Saunders were the first in a long list of noted performers who ap· peared during the 1960 Fine Art. Festival. This year's Fine Arts Festi val brough t to the campus folk singers: Peggy Seeger , Ewan MacCall , Mike Rus so, Ron Brentano, and Ed Saunders. Guest lecturers were: Ray West, professor of English, San Francisco State Col lege, and Richard Armour, pro f e s s 0 r of English, Scripps College. A three-day run of the Port land State Players' "Inherit the Wind" was a feature of the nine-day festival. For urns and discussion groups led by PSC faculty and by Portland arch itects brought the public and stu dents from other colleges in the area to the campus. The purpose of the Festival has been from the begin ning to serve the communi ty as well as PSC students and faculty. Credit for the success of the Festival goes to Dick Moore and Mike Ryherd who served as co-chairmen. FINE ARTS 137
