1. Part of this year's court and Susan Dean, last year's Queen from the University of Washington, pause to watch entertainment during the eveningtime at the lodge. 3. The University of Oregon showed well with this snow sculpture entitled "A Whale of a Time." 156 4. Barney Keep, John Gordon, and Dick Newton provided entertainment inside as well as ouhide. Among the entertairunent for the Winter Carnival were the KEX disk jockeys, the Squires from O.S.C., the Jesters from P.S.C., and Monte Ballou. Door prizes were given by Portland merchants. Al Den Beste acted as master of ceremonies throughout the shows held both nights. Dances were held Friday and Saturday nights. For those who did not compete in the races, there was plenty of activity. 2. Warren Paaso, Winter Carnival director, and Ben Miller, race director, oversee the situation. In spite of the size of this year's Carny, everything moved like clockwork.
