CHAMPIONS VISIT PSC Willie Mosconi, playing contmuous game billiards soundly defeated Mike Upton and Tom Lee, two of Portland State's top players. During the past year, the College Center brought to this school two former world champions who are now on tour. Sam Resh~vsky, nine time world champ in chess and Willie Mosconi, eighteen time world champ in pocket billiards visited the school and enlightened the many who watched them. Samuel Reshevsky, who was world champion in the years 1936 through 1944 and again in 1946, now resides in New York and tours the country giving demonstra­ tions before schools and chess clubs. This man who was master for a decade faced thirty local players simultaneously and defeated them all. Willie Mosconi, the finest man in his field, is touring with the Brunswick Company who specialize in bowling equipment. Willie gave three exhibitions and explained several methods to improve a person's game. He then proceeded to perform some trick shots. He topped off his performance by soundly whipping a PSC player. 147
