STUDENT REVIEW The Portla nd State Student Review of Writing is the literary publication of ASPSC. Each year it publishes the ou tstanding short stories, poetry , and essays submitted by students. In addition it also publishes an art section with representative works by students. This year the magazine in cluded, for the first time, phographic art works by PSC students. The Review was begun in the spring of 1956 in order to give students an opportunity to publish works in the creative writing fi eld. Now, through the courtesy of the PSC Coopera tive, the maga zine awards cash prizes for works judged best by a faculty committee. The Review is proud of having been one of the first college literary maga zines in the Northwest , and serving as a format for many newer publications. The ma ga7ines has received considerabl e critical acclaim from the press and faculties in the area. Response to the 1960 R eview was so great that pla ns are to increase the number of editions in future years. JOHN TERRY Editor During the week of the city-wide newspaper strike, the Vanguard and Viking staffs combined forces in an effort to publish a city edition to supplement the lack of news in the area. The venture progressed to a point where the major difficulties were overcome and the edition was set to roll. However, shortly before the edition was printed, the administration decided to take action and quash the movement. 110
