The Mountaineers from LaGrande season by 77·81 and 78·81. In the series at Portland, the Vikings put on a show of ball hawking and shooting accuracy to win both games 72·59 and 68·61. Due to the ineligibility of Jim Strader, Portland was forced to forfeit the two games to E.O.C.E. ; thereby, giving the Mount· aineers the conference championship.
