JOSEPH V. HOLLAND, athletic director and the head football coach, took up his duties in the fall of 1946 at Vanport College. In 1948 part of the load was taken from his shoulders when Arba Ager was added to the staff. Mr. Holland attended Willamette University where he was picked as a little All· American and later played professional ball with a service team, and the San Diego Bombers. Mr. Holland began his teaching career at Vanport grade school before joining the staff at Portland State. He is the assistant professor of physical education.
