As Dean of the General Extension Divi­ sion, Dr. Cramer is responsible to Chancel­ lor Byrne and the State Board of Higher Education for its administration. An out­ standing man in the field of education, Dr. Cramer recently spent nine months in Aus­ tralia on a Fullbright scholarship. During a series of public appearances shortly after his return, Dean Cramer was stricken with a serious heart attack. He is now well along the road to recovery and the staff and faculty of the General Extension Division are looking forward to the continu­ ance of his able administration. DEAN 1. F. CRAMER CHANCELLOR CHARLES D. BYRNE Dr. Byrne has been Chancellor of the State System of Higher Education since September of 1950. Prior to this he served for eighteen years as secretary of the state system. As Chancellor, Dr. Byrne directs and in­ tegrates the entire state system which in­ cludes Oregon State College, University of Oregon, the three colleges of Education and the General Extension Division.
