Tournament at Hutchi nson, Kansa s. The "Green Machine" stopped Mt. Vernon co ld in the Tourney opener behind the shooting of Bergma n and Koski and the feeding and play making of Pitzer, Talbot, and Hoy. Adrian and Carrington took their share of the rebounds in dominating the backboard s. The foll owing night, Vanport was out-gunned by Olympic J .e. to the tune of 81-61. Hoy , Pitzer, and Bergman again led the Vike scoring attack but they couldn't out-do the torrid "Loggers" as they could smell victory and consequently they wo uld not weaken. Vanpo rt emerged from t ourney competition with second place laurels and the sc hoo l as a whole is proud of the team , the coaching staff, and the ir combined efforts to bring more athlet ic recognition to Vanport.
