APO became the first men' s service fraternity to be organ ized on the Van port campus, and at present is the only one at Vanport. APO was, however, organized in December, 1949. The purpose of the fratern ity is to give service to the school and to the community. Previous experience in the field of scouting is the only requirement for membership in APO. APO 's first school project was the soliciting of advertising for the 1950 Viking yearbook. In April. 1950 the fraternity sponsored an "All-High Seniors " dance at the Masonic Sunken Ballroom . The dance was sponsored for the benefit of all Portland high school seniors interested in attending Vanport. APO won first place honors in the 1950 Anniversary Day clean-up competition.
