Mid-term exams did not keep Van­ port's jazz lovers away from the "Viking" sponsored Mardi Gras. ,Portlands' own "Castle Jazz band" provided the New Orleans touch in music while lavish decorations gave the dance the French Quarter at­ mo s phere . Janice Hartzog and George Olcott were chosen king and queen of the dance for their complete originality in costuming.
