"Red hot" campaigning was predominant on Vanport's campus the week before Homecoming, when seven vivacious candidates were pictured on billboards, on posters and in front of surveying transits. Engineering students posted near microscopic photographs on the wall in the cafeteria and in the basement corridors. The engineers aroused student curiosity by setting up tele­ scopes for students to see their candidate's picture. The Bar­ risters put on sandwich boards, picturing their candidate and paraded around the corridors. Presidential compaigning has never equaled the campaigning carried on by Vanport's queen supporters.
