Art Sb..... A vigorous student campaign, in the middle of winter term resulted in the elec­ tion of Don Buss, student body president. Student prexy of Roosevelt High SchooL in his senior year, Don was prepared to make use of his past student government experiences. Another presidential duty undertaken by Don was the gavel wielding office of chief executive of the Barristers, Vanport's pre-law club. Don wholeheartedly endorsed Van­ port's newly introduced square dancing program. He also promoted plans for changing Vanport's name to something more "Collegiate." Joining the crusades of past Vanport student body presidents, Don worked to secure reduced admission rates for Port­ land college students in downtown thea­ ters. Another promotion project of Don's was that of assisting students to become more "socially minded" and to participate in the many activities offered at Vanport. Cy Newman 33
