Elected by the student body early in the Fall term, Dan Voiss took over the reins of student body president with as much enthu­ siasm as has ever been displayed at Vanport. Dan's first major project was the opening of a student union to provide club rooms for the student body and supplied room for dancing and card playing. Presenting his plan to the student coun­ cil, for approval, Dan recommended that the lower floor of the Per­ sonnel building be cleared of surplus furniture and cleaned up for a student union. The student union :was a huge success and elim­ inated congestion in the college cafeteria. Midway in the Fall term, Dan headed a delegation of student officers to the Oregon Federation of Collegiate Leaders' Conven­ tion at Willamette University in Salem.
