Though the season was young, it appeared Vanport would boast another top baseball team this' year. The squad was well-balanced. and figured to qive any team a tough qarrie. Some opponents this year were universi ty of Oregon. Oregon State. University of Portland, Lewis and Clark. Willamette, Linfield, Pacific and OCE. In most games the infield was composed of Bill Jollie at first, Gene Danzer at second, Art Shepherd at short. Bill Gorman at third. and Chuck Bafaro behind the plate. Others seeing action are Bill Clark and Arnie Bulle tset.Pitchers include, Darrold Philichi, Les Halley, Bill Dolbeer, Don Brown, Bob Mircovich and Gale Bucheit. In the outlield were Bob Warner, Don Amburn, Bill McClean .and John Eggink.
