Allen Gibbs The mathematic department serves a large group of students in all major fields . Approximately 800 students per term choose from 18 lower division mathematic courses, depending on their back­ ground, vocational objective and the school to which they plan to trans fer. All lower division mathematic courses required for admission to junior standing in any Oregon col­ lege are offered: refresher courses for those lacking in high school mathematic background; the conven­ tional analysis and calculus sequences, mathemat­ ics, for mathematic, science and engineering stu­ dents; two sequences for business students depend­ ing on the college to which they intended to trans­ fer; and a caurse in foundation of mathematics for prospective elementary teachers.
