As baseball season rolls around we find the 1949 edition of the Vanport ball club definitely as strong as if not stronger than the 1948 aggregation. Last year's team finished an impressive sea­ son, winning 10 and losing 11 games; which included wins over such strong teams as Portland University, Lewis and Clark, and Linfield, to mention only a few. This year's team is considerably weak in the returning letter­ man department, having only 5, but is fortunate in having a num­ ber of recent high school stars and transfers from larger schools who have filled vacant spots very well.
