Putnam, our assistant director, literally waded out of the Memorial Day Flood to take a doctor's degree and to be offered an important position in the State Department of Public Instruction. He loyally chose, howEver , to resume his position as Dr. Epler's genial and resourceful second-in-command and has remained to playa decisive role in the physical and spiritual re­ building of Vanport College.
