Angus Bowmer, founder and director of the Ashland Shakespearean Festival, came to Portland State this winter to star as Shylock in a highly successful PSC production of The Merchant of Venice. Suppo~ted by Asher Wilson, Dr. Frederick Waller, and a fine student cast, Bowmer was outstanding in a polished play that was a three night sellout. Fourth in a series of plays staged by the PSC Players was Euoene lonesco's "drama of the absurd," The Killer . Described by Director Asher Wilson as "not meaningless, just odd," the play deals with one man's search for the "killer" of all those who have occu pied Mankind's Radiant City, a kind of symbolic haven of truth in the modern world. - ... 1._:£ t­
