Roy Love, in his first year as pse base­ ball coach, was welcomed with a wealth of diamond talent. Fourteen returning lettermen were on hand from last year's championship squad, and at mid-season the surging Vikings were on their way to the top of the aee conference. Back from the 1961 team were the three lead­ ing hitters and the top pitcher. The potent bats of Dennis Heath, Terry Yamau chi and Don Lowry provided the punch to back up the hurling of Gordon Riese. Deep with the talent necessary for a winning season, the Portland State baseballers made their coach 's debut a su ccess.
