RAPS-Sheet-2020-February

2 The RAPS Sheet February 2020 IT IS NOT TOO EARLY to mark your calendar for Wednesday, April 15—tax day. That’s the date for this year’s President’s Luncheon for retired faculty and staff. The luncheon is typically held in May, but because of various conflicts, this year the luncheon is being held a month early. Stephen Percy, Portland State’s interim president, will discuss the state of the University and future aspirations and new developments for PSU. Before serving as interim president, Dr. Percy served as dean of the College of Urban and Public Affairs since 2014. Before coming to PSU he was dean of the College of Public Affairs at the University of Baltimore. Dr. Percy is co-author of six books and one textbook. At Portland State, Dr. Percy headed the campus-wide effort to expand centers and institutes that promote civic engagement, community problem solving, and community and regional planning. The President’s Luncheon will be a fun and informative event, so sign up early! Additional information regarding time, parking, and other details will be in upcoming issues of the RAPS Sheet. We hope to see you there! —Dave Krug CO-PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Interim president to headline April 15 annual luncheon Move it or lose it SUSAN POULSEN (top left), professor emeritus of speech communication and a licensed nurse, speaks at “Surviving and Thriving as We Age,” the RAPS general meeting on January 16.
