Jan Harte '82 runs the Small Business Development Center in Vancouver, Washington. Last year, Harre helped !03 clients obtain more than $1.7 million in loans and ven- rnre capital investments. Scott Thomas MA '82 is the district archaeologist in Burns with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. Thank You! Sharon A. Williams '82 recently opened her own fami ly law and mediation practice in southwest Portland. Ellen Gordon Yager '82, MST '89 works for rhe Arthur Academy Public Charter Schools in Oregon as a music pecialisr. She reaches kindergarten through fifth-grade general music with an emphasis on singi ng. Eva Kripalani '83 was recently promoted to executive vice president and general counsel for Knowledge Learning Cor– poration, which operates com– munity centers and before and after school care programs in 38 states. Kripalani also serves on the PSU Foundation Board. Paul A. Laviolette PhD '83 wrote an essay, "The Pioneer Maser Signal Anomaly: Possible Confirma– tion of Spontaneous Photon Blueshifring," published in Physics Essays, January 2007. Shirley A. Dahlsten '84 recently self-pub lished an instrucrional book, Passion and Paint. Dahlsren owns her own studio/ga llery in Astoria. Scott McClure '86, PhD '89 is the new Monmouth city manager. Gary Miller '87 retired two years ago, having worked as an ana lytical chemist for more than 42 years. He describes himself as a "late bloomer," explai ning that he was 48 when he earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry at PSU. H e scarred college in 1957. Mary E. Smith EdD '87 retired as di rector of cer- ri ficated personnel from rhe Beaverton School District in 2002. Smith continues to work in the field on a part-time basis and teaches classes for Pacific Un iversity and online classes for the University of Phoenix education doctorate program. ALUMNI NOTES Dixie Lund EdD '89 retired from Eastern Oregon Un iver– sity after 31 years, most recently as interim president. Lund continues to serve on the board of her loca l hospital in La Grande. She is also active with her church and a women's educationa l group chat raises funds for college scholarships. John McDonald-O'Lear MBA '89 recently moved to Arizona to accept the position of associate vice president for planned giving at Thunderbird Globa l School of Management. 1990-1999 Teresa A. Cackowski '90 has 16 years' experience work- ing in insurance-the past fou r teaching in the industry. She remarried in 2003 and is livi ng near Tigard.
