James Nelson is in the Kurdish city of lrbil in northern Iraq working LO pro– mote civil society and human rights activities through an NGO (non– government orga– nization). Nelson wrote friends back home of the bulletproof vest he must wear, the body– guards that always accompany him, and of the steel-reinforced, bulletproof truck he travels in. Ashley Northam MS '00 is the coordinator of Chemeketa Com– munity College's speech lan– guage pathology assistam program. Northam was named LO the State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. She has experi– ence working with children from birth through early school– age. Northam also was elected to serve on the American Speech Language Hearing Asso– ciation's Legislative Council. Freddy Robles is a real estate consultant with Compass Realty. He lives in Lake Oswego. Joseph Schultz received his MBA in October from the HEC School of Management in Paris, France. '99 Graham Dey MEd won a 2005 Unsung Heroes award in Sep– tember from ING Investment Management company. The prize recognizes the most innovative educators in the country. Dey is a science teacher at West Salem High School. His project, "Eyes on the Sky: Imagining the Cos– mos," lets students be archaeolo– gists and astronomers. His students use their experiences LO develop research projects, which they present at state and national competitions. Amber Hieb is an executive assistant in the research depart– ment al the Portland Shriners Hospital for Children. Sam Jennings II is director of student development al Mis– souri Academy of Science, Mathematics, and Computing in Maryville, Missouri. Jennings earned his PhD in educational administration , with emphasis on higher education from Capalla University. Callandra "Callie" Lambarth MSW '05 is working in the pro– gram evaluation department at Morrison Child and Family Ser– vices in Portland. Jennifer Larkin is a full-time art teacher at St. Joseph Catholic, a private elementary school in Vancouver, Washington. Brian O'Connell is assistant LO the vice provost for enrollment management at PSU. '00 Barbara Alexander-Brown is a third-year medical sLUdent at Oregon Health & Science Uni– versity school of medicine, with specialty imerests in neurology and urology. She was awarded a gram from Pfizer Pharmaceuti– cals to organize a conference, "Bridging the Gap Northwest 2005: Addressing Health Care Disparities in Minority Popula– tions in the Oregon Commu– nity," held in Portland this fall. Heather D.S. Anderson is in the second year of her MFA pro– gram al University of Idaho . Anderson's artwork, titled Ladies in Wailing, was displayed in the 2004 Idaho Triennial Exhibi– tion. Anderson creates portraits and self-portraits in color pho– tography, sometimes transferring them LO quilts or clothing. Joyce DeMonnin MPH is asso– ciate director for outreach at Ameri an Association of Retired Persons (MRP) Oregon. DeMonnin formerly was head of Washington County's Elder Safe program and in 2004 was a member of the Oregon gover– nor's Elder Abuse Task Force, wh ich helped establish legisla– tion in support of senior and elder victims' rights. CraigJones MM '03 teaches jazz piano and jazz improvisa– tion at Reed Col lege and con– ducting, beginning piano, and music theory at Multnomah Bible College. Jones is the organist and choir director at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Tigard and gives piano and composi tion lessons YOUR UNIVERSITY. Your source for professional development.
