'81 Steven Klein (BS) has been named marketing principal in the Ponland office of Trammel Crow Co. He is now a project director for nearly two-million square feet of industrial space owned or managed by his firm. '82 Sara Cogan (MPA) h as been ap– pointed as a new public member of the Oregon State Bar's board of governors. She will serve a three– year term. Ms. Cogan, a policy and management consultant who served as refugee coordinator for the City of Ponland from 1982 th rough 1987, is also president of the Oregon chapter of the American Society for Public Administrators. Kylene Quinn (MBA), marketing research director for TheColumbian newspaper, Vancouver, Wash., has been named secretary on the 1987- 88 board of directors of the Ameri– can MarketingAssociation's Oregon chapter. Melanie Sievers ('81 BS), marketing research analyst with Pihas Schmidt Westerdahl Co., Port- land, was elected the group's next vice president of chapter affairs. '83 Mary Brelsford (MBA) has joined the Fred S.James & Co. insurance firm, Ponland, as a communica– tions consultant. Elaine E. Howard (MBA) has been named project manager in the Downtown Development Depart– ment of the Ponland Development Commission. Jed Macy (MT) has been named senior manager ofpension consult– ing services at Touche Ross & Co., Ponla nd. '84 Marge Empey (MBA), a registered dental hygienist and faculty member at Oregon Health Science Universi– ty's Department of Dental Hygiene, has been elected president of the American Dental Hygienists' Associ– ation. Terry Moss (BS) has joined the Tigard-Tualatin Times as a staff reporter. '85 Bryan L. Forbes (BS) hasjoined the Salem Police Department as a new police officer. Micaela P. Mynahan (MS) has been selected as Elementary Science Teacher of the Year for 1986-87 by the Oregon State Science Teachers Association. April Thurber (BS), a property manager for Great Northwest Man– agement Co., Beaverton, Ore., re– cently competed in the 1987 Nation– al Water Ski Championships at West Palm Beach, Fla. Thurber was the onlyOregon woman who quali– fied in the Women's II Slalom Division. Colleen Wilson (BA) is currently teaching English to Chinese stu– dents attending Xiamen University, located in Fujian province in the People's Republic of China. '87 Jocelyn Betts (BS) hasjoined Gene– sis Media, a Ponland-based media planning and buying service. She will be involved in consumer and media research as well as planning functions. In Memoriam Dennis C. Anderson ('80 MSW) died of cardiac arrest Sept. 20 in a local hospital. He was 42. He worked as a medical social worker, most recently for Kaiser-Sunnyside Hospital. Sur– vivors include his wife, son and parents. The family suggests re– membrances be contributions to a favorite charity. Jerry Ray Bosco ('61 BS), a Ponland architectural preservationist and former art teacher, died Oct. 9 of spinal meningitis in a Ponland hospital. He was 49. Mr. Bosco and his partner, Benny Milligan, used their huge collection of Victorian style building fragments and Victo– rian art glass to restore homes and public places in Ponland and around the country. Survivors include Mil– ligan, Bosco's father, and a sister. Survivors suggest that remembran– ces be contributions to the Bosco– Milligan Foundation in care of the Historic Preservation League of Oregon. Eric W. Lydon ('68 BS) died Aug. 5 ofcancer in Anaheim, Calif. He was 44. After serving in the Oregon National Guard, Mr. Lydon moved to Orange County, Calif., where he and his wife became owners of a Subway Sandwiches & Salads store in Santa Ana. He is survived by his wife, his mother and two sisters. The family suggests that remem– brances be contributions to the Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation Cancer Center, 1110 W.
