U.S. Army colonel retired in 1977. Korea and Vietnam War veteran. Spent six years with an Ease– West Germany border patrol regiment during the Cold War. Retired second time as an instructor and cudent affair officer (I 982-92) from the Cal i– fornia (CSU) Maritime Acad– emy in Vallejo, California. Currently teaching in the public school system in Sacramento, California, and scheduled for 'final' retirement June 2002." Robert Lauinger is a mu ic pro– fe sor at George Fox University and wilt retire at the end of this school year. Lauinger has been teaching at George Fox for more than 30 years. He lives in Newberg. Robert Boring is the math department chair at Lost River High School in Merrill. Jame "Jim" Hubler retired March 31 following a 27-year career with Freightliner in Port– land. Hubler served as senior vice president and general counsel. Michael Folsom was voted Fac– ulty of the Year by the students of Eastern Washington Univer- ity. John Langslet is senior partner at Martin, Bi choff, Templeton, Langslec & Hoffman, LLP, a law firm in Portland. Ruth (Sinai) Laughlin is voca– tional rehabilitation coordina– tor at the Center for Blindness and Low Vi ion in Kansas City, Missouri. Laughlin write , "Plan to retire in two years and continue work in sculpture." Richard Howard is principal examiner for the State of Maine Office of Consumer Credit Reg– ulation in Augusta, Maine. Howard writes, "My younger son, Jonah Howard, is currently a songwriter and musician with his band, Jonah Howard and the American Dream." /{ Thomas "Tom" Dearborn MST '72 is principal at Alpha High School in Gresham and was named Educator of the Year by the Oregon Association for Alternatives in Education. Dearborn joined Multnomah Educational Service Di trice in 1996 after 25 years as a teacher, administrator, and vice princi– pal. He al o coached football, crack, and basketball at both the high school and college levels. I Shelley Adams MS '73 is a retired educator who worked for Beaverton, Hillsboro, North Bend, Canby, and Williamina school districts. Adams lives in King land, Texas, and writes, "Now retired and living in Texas Hill Country on the Llano River ... would like to hear from friends ... come visit!" Crouse publishes magazines relating to the trades. Linda Noah MS '85 is artistic director for the Northwest Childrens Choir in Portland. John Skyles is environmental health director with the Whit– man County Health Depart– ment in Colfax, Washington. Susan Reynolds is director of the Children's Center of C lackamas County, a CARES Northwe t Program. Reynolds li ves in Oregon City. ' Krista McKillip is an English teacher at Parkrose High chool in Portland. Barbara Chartier Schnoor BA '93, MAT '97 is an English teacher at Fernwood Middle School in Portland. In ovem– ber 2001, she earned national certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards and was recognized at the January 14 Portland School Board meeting. Barbara and her hu band, Mark '72, live in Port– land. Their son Matthew earned his BS from PSU in 1997; daughter Amy attended PSU in the 90 ; and daughter Marie i currently a freshman at PSU. Dennis Derby MBA '78 was appointed by Gov. John Kitzhaber to erve on the State Land Conservation and Devel– opment Commission, represent– ing the Portland metropolitan area. He is president and owner of Double D Development, Inc., a Tigard-based real estate devel– opment and building company. Joe McDonald is a cost accoun– tant with H.B. Fuller Linear Products, a manufacturing com– pany in Vancouver, Wa hington. Emil Nelson is a field engineer with the Stayton Co-op Tele– phone Company in Stayton. Don Burns is a professional actor. Bum i a member of the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. He lives in Beaverton. Keith Robinette is president of Compere & Robinette, a CPA practice in Ozark, Missouri. Joy Al-Sofi is president of the Jackie Chan Fan C lub, USA. Al-Sofi organized a trip to Bangkok to see Chan, who was filming a movie, during the Chinese New Year. She writes, "The fan club will celebrate it seventh anniversary in February. We have had many opportuni– ties for members to meet Jackie, including everal trip to Hong Kong ... The purpose of the fan club is to promote interna– tional friendship and under– standing through a common interest." She lives in Portland.
