Kirk O'Reilly MS is an environ– mental biochemist for Chevron Research & Technology Co. in Richmond, Calif. Robin Ione Sabala MBA has worked for International Paper in Memphis, Tenn., for 15 years. Sabala is presently the project manager-printing for the Kraft packaging division. Jim Sorenson is a senior under– writer with Nationwide In– surance. '86 Casey Bennett is the senior marketing executive for the General Steel Corporation in Vancouver, Wash. Cris Busch MSW is opening a private practice in Portland. Busch Clinical Associates will serve children, youth, families and adults from multicultural backgrounds. Cynthia Roeser is an under– writer with Nationwide In– surance Company in Portland. '87 Mark L. Elliott MS teaches Mathematics at Clark College in Vancouver, Wash., and at Portland Community College, Sylvania Campus. Abdalla Naas is a civil engineer at Caltrans in Eureka, Calif. Ivan Nance MBA, a lieutenant in the Coast Guard, recently reported for duty at the 17th Coast Guard District in Juneau, Alaska. '88 Kathleen McNamara is a medical technologist at Genetrix, a prenatal laboratory in Phoenix, Ariz. Jean Moore MBA is the manager of engineering operations at US West Communications in Vancouver, Wash. 28PSU Ron D. Peterson works for David Evans & Associates as a registered professional civil engineer. Lydia Ronneberg is a business assurance senior associate with Coopers & Lybrand. She recent– ly transferred to the San Jose office from the Portland office. Scott Warner has been promoted to vice president of Laughlin Analytics Inc., a Beaverton-based financial firm serving 160 banks across the United States. '89 Fred Bridges is a product en– gineer at Hyster-Yale Materials Handling Inc. in Portland. Catherine Federspiel is teaching second grade at St. Gertrude Academy in Cincinnati, Ohio. Steven McDowell is a sales representative for Valley Wine Company, a wine distributor in Beaverton. Peggy Lutz, owner and creator of "ATaste of History" in Portland, is a food historian. Lutz's great-great grandparents came to Oregon on the Oregon Trail, and her great grandfather was born in Oregon. As an adult, he moved to Montana, where Lutz was born and raised. In 1980, Lutz was living in '90 Lawrence Boenigk is working toward his M.A. in geography at Indiana State University. Boenigk lives in Terre Haute, Ind. Marvin Grandle MST is the associate pastor of the Country Church of Molalla and a science instructor at Country Christian School. Robin Kuras is the mother of Joshua Ryan, born Oct. 3, 1992. Kuras lives with her husband and son in Longview, Wash. Maija Miller MSW, LCSW is a family and child therapist at Klamath Youth Development Center in Klamath Falls, Ore. Scott Repp works at Intel Cor– poration in Aloha, Ore., as an electrical engineer. Joan Snyder MS is a Resource Room teacher at Mt. Pleasant Elementary School in Oregon City. Tokyo and had to return to Montana due to an illness. Wanting to raise money to go back to Tokyo, she began presenting food performances on the history of beef to promote the product in Montana. Instead of returning to Tokyo, she moved to Oregon in 1986 to pursue her career and to study the native foods. She attended PSU and received a master's degree in history in 1991, writing her thesis on the food history of Oregon. Lutz combines her travel experiences with her knowledge of history when she performs. Dressed in period costume, she prepares the food from scratch in front of the audience. As each course is served, she gives a short histori– cal presentation. Her performances are culturally and historically diverse. She has presented dinners from 25 different countries and time periods. Lutz also has written articles for Northwest Palate and is working on two books. '91 Sue Bryant-Porter has opened a massage therapy business. She lives in Vancouver, Wash. Evelyn Sahli is a U.S. Immigra– tion Inspector in Portland. '92 Jamal Abusneineh MST is a coach and recreation instructor at Metro Gymnastics Center in Tigard. Brian Alfrey is a licensed broker and insurance agent with Paine– Webber Incorporated. He and his wife live in Portland. Amy Pearl is currently in the M.A.T. program at Willamette University in Salem. Jennifer Tujo MPA joined the U.S. Army immediately follow– ing graduation. T ujo is based at Ft. Lewis, Wash., and is a registered nurse working at Madigan Medical Center. In Memorium Paul Starr '85, the former execu– tive director of Cascade AIDS Project, died on December 30, 1992, at the age of 43. Starr, an AIDS activist, was credited by many in the community with in– creasing public knowledge of the disease. Starr received a master's degree in social work from PSU in 1985; in 1986 he founded the Cascade AIDS Project. He is sur– vived by his parents, Dane and Wilma Starr, sisters Deanna and Susan Starr, and brothers David, Stephen and Mark. Mark Whitehead '90 was killed in an auto accident on February 26, 1993, while working as a Multnomah County Sheriff's reserve deputy. Whitehead, a 26-year-old graduate assistant in the music department at PSU, was working on his master's degree. His goal was to receive his doctorate. He is survived by his parents, Jim and Bev Whitehead, and his younger brother, Matt.
