Literal instructs vocational graphic arts at Madison High School in Portla nd . '62 Terry W. Clifford (BS) has been named treasu rer of Tektronix, Inc., Beaverton, Ore. Robert Murray (BS), executive vice president of First In terstate Bank, has been elected treasurer and will also serve on the boa rd of trustees for Waverly Children's Home, Portland, during 1986-87. William R. Ulrich (BS) has been promoted to executive vice presi– dent of U.S. Bancorp, Portland. He has been with the firm for 27 years. '63 Mark Hattenhauer, MD (BS), a Portland cardiologist, is president of the Oregon Federation of Physicians, a year-old effort at unionization. '64 Larry Large (BS) is the new vice president for university relations at the University of Oregon, Eugene. Fred D. Miller (BS), who has been director of the state Depart– ment of Transportation, Salem, has been named head of the state Executive Department by Gov. Neil Goldschmidt. In his new job, Miller will oversee the writing of the governor's budget and opera– tion of his principal state pro– grams. Miller recently served as budget director on Goldschmidt's transition team. Elinor Pierce (BS) has been nominated an outstanding America n Baptist woman for her activity in raising funds for mis– sion projects, collecting food fo r low-income people, and partici– pating in church work camps around the world . Martin Rupert (BS) has been pro– moted to assistant creative direc– tor for Young & Roehr, Inc., a Portland-based ad vertising agen– cy. Formerly art d irector for J antzen, Inc., Portland, he now provides art direction on the ad firm 's Tektronix, Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Freightliner accounts. David M. Witter, Jr. (BS) has been appointed director of Uni– versity Hospital at the Oregon Health Sciences University, Port– land. '65 Richard Bolen (BS), formerly a planner with the city of T igard , Ore., is now a senior data analyst with the Portland Metropolitan Service District (Metro). George Funkhouser (BS), office leasing specialist with the busi– ness real estate firm of Cushman & Wakefield, Portland, has been named one of his company's five top producers for 1986. Avon Murphy (BA) has j oined the communications department at Oregon Institute of Technol– ogy, Klamath Falls, as an associ– ate professor. He most recently was coordinator of the technical communication program at Louisiana University. '66 Robert H. Janice L. Yaden (BA) has been appointed to a new position in the Oregon governor's office, act– ing as Governor Neil Gold– schmidt's adviser on human resources. '67 Dennis Crow (MST) is the new principal at Sandy High School, Sandy, Ore., where he has taught and served in the administration since 1964. Jim Gallucci (BS), partner in the Portland certified public accoum– ing firm of Bottaini & Gallucci, has been elected president of the Italian Businessmen's Club of Portland . Alan Jones (BS), president and chief executive officer of United Grocers, Inc., Milwaukie, Ore., has been elected fi rst chairman of the board of d irectors of Provi– dence Medical Foundation. Gladys McCoy (MSW) is the new chair of the Multnomah County Board of Commissioners follow– ing her election Nov. 4. She also served as a commissioner on the same board from 1979 to 1984. Grant D. Nelson (BS, '82 MST) has been named a staff assistant to incoming Multnomah Coumy Chairwoman Gladys McCoy ('67 MSW). He formerly served as a staff assistant to Multnomah County Executive Dennis Buchanan. '68 Sam Diack (BS) manages the Sandy River Gorge Nature Con– servancy lands, some 600 acres of protected land spread along the Oregon river. Douglas Eyer (BS), an 18-year veteran of the National Labor Relations Board, has been named director of the agency's Portland office. Curtis J. Schneider (BS), plan– ning director for the Clatsop County Department of Planning and Development in Astoria, Ore., has been appointed to the Oregon Lewis and Clark Trail Committee.
