Cogan is a part– ner with her hu - band , Arnold Cogan, in the planning and communications firm of Cogan Owens Cogan. '60s Roger Capps '60 has joined the PSU Alumni Board of Direc– tors. Capp is a retired elemen– tary school principal. He and his wife, Jan, live in Portland. Dewey Newton '61 is Harney County justice of the peace. Newton 's previous governmen– tal experience include city attorney and justice of the peace in Woodburn. He and his wife, Nancy, live in Burns. Dr. Mark Hattenhauer '63 is a cardiologist with the O regon Hea lth Sciences University chool of Medicine's cardiology department. Richard "Dick" Pugh '64 MST '71 retired after teaching sci– ence at C leveland High School for 3 l years. Pugh is now a con– ultant with the Portland Public chool district and continue his lifelong research of mete– orite . He lives in Portland. Richard "Dutch" Van Blari– com '65 writes, "I received my PhD in geology. At 62, I was the second oldest member of the graduation class at the Uni – ver ity of Idaho. Two years ago l started my own geophysica l consulting business and took early retirement from Cominco American, Inc., where I had been the chief geophysicist for over 20 years." Van Blaricom live in Colbert, Washington. Carolyn Anderson '68 is post– master with the U.S. Postal Ser– vice in Adams. 22 PSU MAGAZINE FALL 2000 N 0 T E S Carl Wilson '68 is president of MKC Acquisition Company, operating as Multnomah G rey– hound Park. Wilson was genera l manager at MG P for 10 years and authored the O regon G rey– hound ovenant, which serves as the national model for stan– dards of treatment for grey– hounds. David "Dave" Olcott '69, for the first time in l9 years did not accompany his Centennial Mid– dle chool class on its eighth– grade exchange with Heppner Junior High. O lcott, who ha been teaching at Centennial for 29 years, created the program in 1981. He live in Corbett. Joan "Josie" Shapira '69 writes, "! am working on Norwegian and Jewish cultural arts and crafts and trying to rebuild my health." Shapira, who lives in Vancouver, Washington , is being treated for cancer and is recovering from an automobile accident. '70 Wayne "Corky" Corwin has been teaching U.S. history at Neah-Kah-Nie Junior-Senior High School in Tillamook for 16 years. In addition, Corwin is baseball coach, with 205 wins in his coaching career, and has served as athletic director since 1998. Tom Huntsinger is vice pre i– dent of Portland operations at W&H Pac ific, an engineering firm in Beaverton. Patricia Spear M T '73 is prin– cipal at Kelso High School in Kelso, Wash. '71 Margo Bellock MST '73 is principal at North Salem High chool. Marc Grignon is senior vice pre ident and regional trust manager for Oregon and Idaho at Wells Fargo's Private lient ervices G roup. James "Jim" Huffman has been a defense attorney with the law firm of O lsen & Huffman in St. Helens ince he started the firm in 1983. Huffman received the 1999 Pro Bono Award from the O regon State Bar for lega l er– vice to indigent citizens. Hu ff– man also serves as a counci lor for the Scappoose C ity Council. Sheryl Anne Perry is a flight attendant with American Eagle Airlines. Perry lives in Seattle. '72 Pamela Groupe Groves wrote chapter 14 in the book, Fantas– tic An tone Grows Up: Adoles– cents and Adults with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, published by the University of Ala ka Press in April 2000. Groves also wrote a chapter in the previous book, Fantastic Antone ucceeds: Experiences in Educating Children with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. he li ve in Portland . O.B. Priscilla Kimboko PhD '82 is clean of graduate studie and grant admini tration at G rand Valley State University in G rand Rapids, Mich. Arthur Nelson MUS '76, PhD '84 was chosen as a fellow of the American Institute of Certified Planners and was recognized for individual achievement in the fi eld of urban and rural planning at a ceremony in New York C ity in April. Nelson is a professor in the graduate city planning pro– gram at Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. Sheila Speck '72 is a substitute teacher and an Avon repre en– tative. peck lives in Castle Rock, Washington. '73 Richard "Dick" Farance i national programs director at ReloAction, a consulting firm in Portland . N. Robin Holmes MA '73 is a retired telecommunications reg– ulatory consul tant and teacher. Holme is leading an effort to re tore Gross C reek in Bandon a a wildlife hab itat. he also participate in the master gar– dener program and assists stu– dents at Ocean C rest Elementary School in Bandon with a garden of natural and native plants. She and her hu - band , Bob, li ve in Bandon. '74 Carol Williams Bryant MSW was appointed by Gov. Gray Dav is to the position of assis– tant director, legislation, and policy development for the Cal– ifo rnia Department of Aging in Sacramento, California. Catherine Stauffer is a mental health therapist at Harney Behavioral Health. For the past fi ve years, Stauffer and her hus– band , John, have also presented marriage communication semi – nars under their business name A One. They live in Burns. '75 Stephen Hawke MBA is vice president of delivery system planning and engineering for Portland General Electric and was named Engineer of the Year by the Professional Engineers of O regon. Hawke has been a PGE employee since 1973. Elaine Kelley MA is a develop– ment officer at Bethlehem Uni – versity, a hristian Brothers uni versity located in Bethle– hem , West Bank. Michael Simpson is plant man– ager of J.M. Smuckers Company in Woodburn. Simpson also serves on the board of directors at the Providence Benedictine Nursing Center in Mt. Ange l.
