Gary Weeks MS is director of the Oregon Department of Human Resources. He oversees welfa re, mental and public hea lth, vocational rehabilita– tion, and 'Crvices for cnior c iti – zens, children and people with disabilities. He was previously the director of the Oregon State Lottery. '73 Aurora Martinolich D'Amico is a statistician for the U.S. Department of Education in Washington, D.C. D'Amico does resea rch on postsecondary education and its fin ancing. he writes that although she lives on the east coast, she "left her heart in Portland , and in prepa– ration for retirement she and her husband have purchased a view lot there. " C. Greg Danielson is pres ident of Pen and Pencil Grafix, an electronic design and illustra– tion firm in Portland. Margaret Hetherington i the theater arts department costumer at Jefferson High chool and also teaches at Portland Community College. Hetherington is affiliated with the Oregon C hildren's Theatre ompany and has returned to P U to pursue a master's degree. Wundram is an assoc iate professor of anthropol– ogy at Oxford cillege of Emory. '74 Martin Abbott PhD '84 attended the inauguration of E. Arthur Self a pre ident of cattle Pacific Univer ity April 21 , 1995, in Sea ttle, Wash. Abhott is dean of the oll egc of Arts and Sciences at Sea ttle Pacific University. Robert L. Armstrong was appointed to the Oregon tare Board of A countancy in 1994. Armstrong is president-share– holder of Robert L. Armstrong, a puhlic accounting firm in Tualatin. Shirley Bass is the first attorney in Oregon to become certi fied in cider law, which deals with legal problems affecting th e senior population. Wayne Gungl writes that after leaving PSU, he taught math– ematics, then received his general contractors license and worked in construction. G ungle currently is the senior building inspector for the city of Redding, Calif. Grace Vaniman Johnson MS and her husband were presented the Niskanen Award as outstanding leaders of the Scandinavian community who "teach others appreciation for Scandinavian ways." Johnson lives in Tigard and is a retired educator. '75 Stephen Duncan MBA '83 is an accounting instructor at Navarro College in Corsica na, Texas. Gerald Hubbard is leading a delegation of facilities managers to New Zealand and Australi a in August 1996. Hubbard led a similar fac ilities group to C hina in 1988 and 1994. He is direc– tor of fac ilities at the Museum of c icnce and Industry, hicago. Kathleen (Nicholas) Litzinger was appointed to a position on rhe hemica l Demilitarization C itizens Advisory Commission from 1993-95. The commission works with the Army and community to rid the Umatilla depot of chemica l weapons. Litzinger is a homemaker living in Hermiston. Michael Simpson was promoted to plant manager of mucker's in Woodburn. He is a member of the Institutc of Food Technologists and Northwest Food Proces ors Association. He and hi wife, Delcnc, h ave two children and li ve in anby. '76 Aileen E. Davis retired after 18 years as a first grade teacher at East G resham school. A family member writes, " he is one of those persons who went back to college in later life ( 54 year old when she graduated with honors and 72 when she retired). She's a person who believes in 'Just Do Ir."' Julie (Peters) Klapstein is senior vice president at Sunquest Information Systems, a software firm in Tucson, Ariz. In her spare time, Klapstein enjoys showing her four Arabi an horses. '77 Glenn Albus is vice president and general counsel at Evergreen International Aviati on in McMinnville. Rick Hassmann MS is the assistant principal and athletic director at Sherwood High hool. Terry Horn MST is the direc– tor of business and health services management at hemckcta Community ollege in Salem. Susan (Brickey) Purpura is pres ident of the Oregon Donor Program, manager of prepaid hea lth services for Providen c Medical Group in Portland , and vice president of the PSU Alumni Board of Directors. Her husband, Gary '71, is owner and president of Liberty Capi tal Investment Company, as well as president of Coliseum Kiwanis and treasurer of Portland Impact. George Van Patten is owner of Van Patten Publishing in Washouga l, Wash. Van Patten is an author and publisher of seven books on gardening.
