55 THE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS Jorda Harlow JORDA HARLOW, a first-generation college student, is graduating from Portland State University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business, specializing in Marketing. Her journey was shaped by her experiences in the foster care system until she was adopted by Brian and Helen Harlow. Despite the challenges, Harlow excelled academically, defying the statistics showing that only 3% of foster youth graduate from college. Her success was guided by values of kindness, empathy, and hard work instilled by her parents. At PSU, Harlow embraced opportunities beyond academics. She actively participated in the American Marketing Association, leading case studies and recruitment efforts. As a School of Business peer ambassador, she shared her knowledge and supported fellow students. She also showcased her business acumen by co-hosting the podcast "Talk Business with Me," engaging in insightful conversations with industry professionals, faculty, and students. Harlow's story exemplifies resilience, determination, and commitment to both personal and professional growth. Equipped with her PSU degree and acquired skills, she enters the business world, poised to make a positive impact.
