48 SCHOOL OF SOCIAL WORK Carly Inga Itami CARLY INGA ITAMI (she/her) is a fourth generation Oregonian native from Molalla. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Science with a Genetics focus in 2018 from Portland State University. Itami is married to her partner Nicholas Itami, and together they are the bereaved parents of Evelyn June (d. Oct. 20, 2011) and Mary Grace (b. Nov. 7, 2013, d. Jan. 3, 2014). Itami believes wholeheartedly in community care and support of families. Her passions for foster care system reform and child abuse and neglect prevention come from experiencing her own child loss, as well as from her experience as a former kinship placement. Today, because of her faith and determination, Itami will be graduating with a Master’s in Social Work after completing the 3-year Master’s of Science in Social Work with Internship program that placed Itami at the Raphael House of Portland where she became a Domestic Violence Advocate, and at Oregon Health and Science University in the Fetal Care Clinic under the supervision of supporter Haley Atherton MSW, LCSW and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit under the supervision of mentor BreAnna Dupuis LCSW, PMH-C.
